DRS Network & Imaging Systems, LLC in Cypress is part of the Electro-Optical and Imaging Systems Group of DRS and has over 30 years of experience in designing and developing electro-optical/infrared systems for surveillance and targeting applications for military customers which includes the United States Army, Marine Corps and Air Force. These systems feature a stabilized turret with laser range finders/ designators, television cameras, bore sighting tools, and other capabilities the customer may desire. The Company is also involved in the development of strategic space systems.

*Position Summary*
Develop precision electro-mechanical/ opto-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems from concept to hardware. Examples include optical assemblies, vision systems and electronics packaging for space and terrestrial applications. Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems. Involved with the design, fabrication and modification of mechanical and/or electro mechanical components, sub-systems and systems. Evaluates and recommends design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. Investigates solutions to product or process problems. Uses computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments. May include Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or others.
*Duties and Responsibilities*
* Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and on budget
* Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
* Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems independently or with teams
* Use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
* Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
* Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
* Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
* Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
* Participate heavily in preparation of more complex and significant proposals
* Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel. Be a mentor or coach to other engineers
* Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company
*Basic Qualifications*
Degree(s) Required: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Minimum Years of Experience: 8+ Years
U.S. citizenship required
Precision mechanical, opto-mechanical, or electronics packaging design experience required
*Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge*
Must be able to obtain Secret Clearance
ProEngineer CAD experience preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Hands-on mechanical assembly experience preferred (professional or hobby)
Machine shop or equivalent experience preferred (professional or hobby)
Design for military or space requirements preferred
Leadership experience preferred
