**Job Summary**

FIleMaker is looking for a Network Engineer to join their Network Computing Services team in Santa Clara, CA. You will work in a dynamic team supporting the day to day computing needs of FileMaker internal and external customers world-wide. Through your knowledge of Cisco products for security, LAN, WAN, VoIP, WLAN, IDP and VPNs you will round out the systems and telephony administration team that provides all compute infrastructure for FileMaker globally.

**Key Qualifications**

* 5+ years experience operating networks end-to-end from the ISP and IP backbone, to data centers thru edge pops to LANs/WLANs

* Solid understanding of TCP/IP (both IPv4/IPv6)

* Extensive knowledge of Cisco IOS/IOS-XR involving layer 3 protocols such as BGP, RSVP, OSPF, and MPLS

* Advanced Network Certifications

* Ability to script using PERL/Python/Shell a plus

* Monitoring, evaluating, and resolving network incidents to maintain website reliability and offer seamless experience to application owners

**Description**

This is a hands-on job for our primary network engineer role. You will be part of a small team of specialists who maintain the servers and networks for FileMaker, Inc. As the point-person for the successful operation of the network your first priority is to monitor and respond to network incidents. This job requires carrying a cell phone and being part of an on-call team. Just because the network is up does not mean it's time for coffee and bagels. You need to be proactive with regular capacity planning and usage tracking to keep things running smoothly. When it is time for that upgrade, you are the engineer who can partner with VARs to design new network solutions, and you can get your hands dirty installing, connecting, configuring, and optimizing that new network.

You will interface with our ISP's, colocation sites, remote offices, third-party vendors, and our parent company, Apple on all things network. You will maintain the health of all our Cisco equipment, both wired and wireless. You will write and review our firewall ACLs. You also will coordinate with third-party vendors in remote sites to build secure VPNs. You are experienced at writing and maintaining documentation, so you have strong written communication skills. You are also good at communicating complex technical concepts to a wide range of audience, so you have excellent verbal communication skills.

**Education**

BS in a technology field preferred
